Wednesday 6th February 2013

Here we are for the first time in 2013. It was a beautiful day, in air conditioned comfort with so much to catch up on since our December meeting.

Before we see all our happy campers – here is a special show and tell from our quilting wizz and queen of scraps, Bronwyn

This photo does not do her quilt justice. When you enlarge it, you will see that it is made up of scrap strips of all sizes – and so cleverly put together. The GREAT thing about this quilt is that our Bronwyn will be teaching it in Bendigo – details of her classes and others are available on the Bendigo Yahoo group – please join!!!  scqbendigo2013@yahoogroups.com

And our blog: http://www.scquiltersvic.blogspot.com.au/search/label/Classes

And now some pics of the happy campers:

Sally and next Bronwyn, Shirley and her sister Jean who, by a happy coincidence was visiting from Terrigal on the NSW central coast at the time. Welcome Jean!!!

and this line up of lovely ladies – all regulars – Jo, Maggy, Laurel and Fran.  All the other Scquilters magically disappeared when I was snapping these photos.

And now, the rest of show and tell, thankfully photographed our gorgeous Ramona.

Deidre brought along this ab fab bag and purse she had ver beautifully embroidered.

Bar’s bright hexagons (more pics later) and Wyn’s and mine (Helen’s) hanging hearts for my DH Big Bad Merv’s  lovely cousin in Wales who is going through a very hard time at the moment. By the way, Wyn’s is the beautiful bird cage heart.

These exquisite vintage sewing gadgets belonged to Sally’s mother.  It just shows that we aren’t the only era where gadgets reign supreme. Sally told us that her mother was a real gadget person –and aren’t they beautiful. Lovely memories for Sally xxx

Wyn made this irresistible  double Irish chain memory quilt to cover her great-grand daughter’s first two years. What a lucky great-grand daughter she is.

Shirley is working on a stunning Kaffe Fasset diamonds quilt – as you can see from the picture on her camera – she has made great progress.

Here we have Jean from Terrigal’s version of Bonnie Hunter’s latest mystery quilt – isn’t it just fabulous – well done Jean!!!

and Jo is holding the completed version of all the flower blocks she was working on last year. Breathtaking, isn’t it?

Some close ups of Jo’s work – part hand work, part machine work.

Laurel – has already made a quilt to donate to bushfire victims  - I have written something like squirt strking – no idea what I meant, but I am sure it is all good!

And here is Fran – as part of a small art textile group she had to make this particular portrait of someone she knows very well.

And here is the result of all the mysterious needle turn work Robyn was doing last year. An absolutely, positively wondrous giraffe – so realistic. And a BIG welcome back to our precious Cynthia!!! Yes Madam Cyn has recovered enough from a recent, rather serious illness and is getting on with her magnificent stitchery. Very well done!

And here are Bar’s beautiful, bright, brilliant hexagons – looking rather splendid placed together.

So, we look forward to doing it all again on Wednesday the 6th of March 2013 – please come and join us if you happen to be in the area around Melbourne on that date.

And don’t forget our pre-pre Bendigo retreat day of fun, frivolity and door -prizes on Wednesday 17th of July 2013. Plan your trip to Bendigo around this to make our retreat a week long festival of…well, you know the rest!!!
